Bliss in detail

The article “Let’s get specific” by Beth Johnson explains the importance of detail in all types of writing. What makes some stories so enticing is the details the author provides. When an author gives you all the details, it is easy to envision the scenario or scene that is being set. I enjoy the feeling of being so invested in a story that I feel like I am part of it. Detail leaves nothing into imagination & allows the readers to get into the mindset of the author. More detail allows for less misunderstanding. Detail allows me to just relax and read, rather than putting pieces together & leaving things up to my own interpretation. Concrete details feel safe while abstract details feel unstable and horrible to anxious people like me.
