This past Saturday, I went to see the play Hamlet at my school. I now have a question to ask Hamlet or William Shakespeare. Why did you people kill every single one of the main characters in the play? If Hamlet had just killed his stepfather in the beginning of the play, he could’ve spared all of the causalities caused by his plan. I understand the need for Hamlet’s father’s murderer to suffer, but was the suffer that the murderer had to endure worth the deaths of Hamlet’s lover, mother, friend, and his own? I just don’t understand. Hamlet let himself become overcome with hatred and ended up suffering the consequences that could’ve easily be avoided. I will never understand why he does so. I wonder if he believed it was all worth it in the end.
